Happy Thanksgiving! (Again)

If you haven’t tried cooking your turkey the day before Thanksgiving, cutting it up, and then just reheating it on Thanksgiving day, you’re missing something.  Granted, you spend the same amount of time in the kitchen, but it’s so much less stressful than trying to do it all in one day.  And, believe it or not, it tastes just as good doing it that way.

If you miss proudly displaying the bird in the center of the table, take a picture when it comes out of the oven and put that on the table.  If they laugh at you, remember…you’ll probably have eaten a turkey sandwich the previous evening, so the joke’s on them!

The really nice thing is that you can now take a nap Thanksgiving afternoon w/o worrying about deboning a bird.  One of life’s greatest pleasures is an afternoon nap.  It’s almost as good as spending the day with your family.  Ours was short a few members this year, due to work schedules and distances, but we still enjoyed our beautiful daughter, and equally beautiful granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

Life is so much better when you can see it through the eyes of a child, isn’t it?  Even if said child takes great pleasure in rearranging the refrigerator magnets.  Food, faith, and family.  There’s so much to be thankful for.

Spread the love

  1. We went to my sister for Thanksgiving. She did all the cooking. I took some side dishes. We had a great time. From five sisters, one was missing she had her husband families in from out of town. God is Great and Good!

    1. Turkey salad sandwiches, turkey soup, sliced turkey sandwich (with cranberry sauce), turkey tetrazzini…the list is endless. FYI, turkey nachos? Not so great. Yes, I actually made some.
